About Debra

Greetings!

I’m Debra (Deb) (she/her)

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) based in Toronto.

I view therapy as a process of healing in relationship and in community. It’s about co-creating a space that feels dignifying, expansive, playful, subversive, fluid, gentle, and compassionate. I show up to our sessions with curiosity, genuineness, and trust in your lived experiences. I am committed to journeying alongside you, honouring your complexity, bearing witness to painful moments, and celebrating your growth.

My hope is that this space becomes one where you feel safe enough to (re)process what you have been through, (re)define your values & needs, and explore new ways of connecting with yourself and others. By integrating this work into your life, you can reclaim your agency, strengthen your sense of Self, and experience internal liberation.

With the right conditions, transformation is not only possible—it is inevitable.

Importantly, my therapy practice is political. When systems of oppression cause harm, I hold space for grief, anger, and activism.

Outside of counselling, I love to read and can be found in city parks having heated (but playful) discussions about books over bubble tea. I also love teaching Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Toronto and supervising student- and community-led research about belonging, inclusivity, and accessibility in universities.

Aspects of my identity include being a 2nd generation settler of Southeast Asian and Eastern European Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. I am also a queer cisgender woman who is multiply neurodivergent, and disabled.
